Carlos Ray Chuck Norris is an American martial artist and also an actor, film producer, and screenwriter. He also served in the United States Air Force. As a martial artist, he is a black belt in Tang Soo Do, Brazilian jujitsu, and judo. Norris owned a Martial Arts studio and trained many Hollywood celebrities.

Early Life

Norris was born on March 10th, 1940, in Ryan Oklahoma. Norris has two other siblings Wieland and Aaron. Norris wasn’t a starboy from childhood. He was shy, nonathletic, and an average student. His father was an alcoholic. When Norris was 16, his parents divorced and he later moved to Prairies village, Kansas, and then to Torrance, California with his mother and brothers.

Career

Chuck Norris joined the Air Force as an Air policeman in 1958. He was placed at Osan Air Base in South Korea. After he was discharged from the Air Force in 1962, he applied for a police officer in Torrance, California, and opened a martial art studio. Being a martial artist he also started competing in tournaments. At first, he lost his two matches. He also lost three matches at the International Karate Championship.

It was in 1967 when Norris came back stronger and defeated seven opponents. He was declared champion at the S Henry Cho’s all-American Karate Championship. He also started teaching martial arts to Hollywood celebrities including Steve McQueen, Chad McQueen, Bob Parker, Priscilla Presley, Donny Osmond, and Marie Osmond.

In 1968 he lost the 10th and final match of his career. Later, that same year he won the Professional Middleweight Karate Champion title and held the title for six consecutive years. It was then, he became friends with actor Bruce Lee. He also karate’s Triple Crown for the most tournament wins of the year. Norris was named as a fighter of the year.

In further years, Norris made his acting debut with The Wrecking Crew. In the early 1980s, Norris was a spokesperson for Action Jeans. In the same year, he released The Octagon, which was distributed by American cinema and it made almost $19 million at the box office. In the 1980s he also had his own cartoon show Chuck Norris Karate Kommandos. The show was canceled because of its violent nature.

Norris films collectively grossed over $500 million all over the world by 1990. He continued his acting career. Presently Chuck Norris became Fiat’s ambassador. In 1958, 18 years old Chuck Norris married his 17-year-old classmate Dianne Holechek. They had a son in 1962. Their second son was born in 1964. He also had a daughter Deena of an extramarital affair.After 30 years of marriage, Norris And Holechek divorced in 1985. On November 28, 1998, Norris married former model Gina O’Kelly. They had twins on August 30, 2001.

On September 22, 2004, Norris reported that he did not meet his daughter from a past relationship until she sent a letter informing him about their relationship in 1990.
