Early Life
Radric Delantic Davis also known as Gucci Mane was born on 12th February 1980 in Bessemer, Alabama. At the time of his birth, his father was under the charges of drug smuggling and was living in Detroit, Michigan. He was raised by his paternal grandmother and his mother was attending college at that time.
He was introduced to the world of hip hop music when his half-brother took him to a concert of Run-DMC, Beastie Boys, LL Cool J concert. In 1989, Mane and her mother moved to Atlanta. He grew up in a criminal environment. He started dealing drugs when he was in his college days. With the Christmas money, he used to purchase crack cocaine and sell them.
As a high school student, Mane was a very bright student and quite popular in his high school. Despite having a drug dealer side, Mane never tried drugs for the first few years of his high school. After two years of selling drugs, one day in the year 1995, Mane was robbed by someone on his bicycle. From that day on he started carrying a gun whenever he was out.
In the year 1998, he was graduated from high school with distinction and a 3.0 GPA. He got a scholarship as well to study at Georgia Perimeter College. He was rusticated from his university in 2001 under the charges of drug dealing. He was also sentenced to 90 days of imprisonment.
Career
After his first arrest, Mane decided to make his career in hip hop music. He released his first-ever album called La Flare, distributed through a run of 1000 CDs he distributed them throughout East Atlanta. He collaborated with Young Jeezy in “So Icy” and was distributed through Tommy Boy Records. In 2005, he released his first full album and named it Trap House.
The album got a lot of recognition and was under Top 20 of the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop album charts and also landed on the top spot on the Billboard Heatseekers Album chart. His next album Hard to Kill came in 2006. The album also included his hit single “Freaky Gurl” and peaked at number 12 on the Hot Rap Tracks. In 2010n, he released The State vs Radric Davis.
Mane collaborated with Rae Sremmurd and released his next track. The song released in November 2016. It reached at the top of all charts on Billboard and not just R&B, hip hop, or rap songs. This collab was Mane’s first number-one single as a featured artist. It remained on top for almost 7 weeks.
Mane also performed in the prestigious Coachella Valley Music and art Festival and stunned the audience by giving out P Diddy. By the end of 2017, he released his autobiography, “The Autobiography of Gucci Mane”. Throughout his whole career, Mane released over 71 mixtapes and 13 studio albums.
He also founded his label in the year 2007. Mane collaborated with many other artists like Drake Lil Wayne, Selena Gomez, Mariah Carey, and Marilyn Manson. Personal Life
Mane got married in the year 2017 to Keyshia KAa’oir. Their wedding was produced as a 10-episode TV show and named “The Mane Event”. Mane proposed to Keyshia after his performance at Atlanta Hawks basketball game. He revealed in his autobiography that he was a son born in 2007 whom he was not recognized until 2017.
